FAQ

Hopefully you will find an answer to your question in this section. If not, then do contact the site owner, and you will receive an answer as soon as possible.

Q: What is the purpose of this site?

A: This site was designed to provide impartial reviews of the hundreds of sandwiches and similar products currently available on the high-street. It aims to be the most detailed site of this kind on the internet.

Q: How do I find a sandwich?

A: Simply visit the Find a Sandwich page to get started. Alternatively, jump to the store list and pick the supplier/maker you are interested in. You will then be presented with a list of all the products they make which are reviewed on this site. Clicking on a product which takes your fancy will take you to the full review.

Q: What sort of sandwiches are reviewed here?

A: Most of the output of the major retailers/manufactures is included here. This includes traditional "triangular" style sandwiches as well as baguettes and "bloomer" bread ones. Where a sandwich is not in the usual triangular style it is normally indicated in the review.

Q: What do the stars mean?

A: The stars are found on the product list and main review screens. They are simply an overview of the full review and serve as an indication only. The star ratings can be broken down as follows:

= A truly fantastic sandwich, reserved for the very best.
= A very good sandwich with only a few minor flaws.
= A good sandwich, usually fairly well made and a reasonable price.
= An average sandwich which probably won't be worth your money.
= A poor sandwich, often with bad ingredients and overly priced.
= Indicates a "Christmas sandwich".
= Indicates a sandwich suitable for vegetarians.
= Indicates a sandwich in a "healthy" range

Q: What is included in the review?

A: The reviews take account of many things. These include essentials like the quality of the fillings used and the quality of the bread. Then of course there is the flavour to consider, and the combination of the ingredients. Then there are considerations of things like value for money and even the effectiveness of the packaging in some cases. All the products are given a star rating, an overview comment and their price is always listed as well. However, to get the most helpful information the review is essential reading.

Q: Aren't some of your reviews out of date?

Sometimes retailers will simply stop selling sandwiches that I have reviewed. I keep these reviews on the site for reference purposes, and on occasion sandwiches have been discontinued and then brought back, so the reviews remain relevant. Stores will also change their recipes on occasion too. I am aware of this, and when I am informed of a major alteration I will attempt to find the new product and will alter my review if necessary. However, please note that this doesn't change the date the review was added to the site.

Q: Can I submit my own review?

A: No. But you are welcome - and encouraged - to vote on the sandwiches yourself to build up a "visitor rating". If you disagree with one of the reviews, do get in touch, you might change my mind.

Q: Who runs this site?

A: Just one person, my name is David and I am responsible for all the reviews and content. Please note the reviews on the site reflect opinion only and as such SandwichGuide.co.uk cannot be held responsible for disappointing purchases. Effort is taken to ensure product lists and prices are accurate, although please be aware that regional differences and individual store pricing will affect such information. If you notice an error then please contact the site.

Q: What is the SandwichGuide.co.uk Mailing List?

A: Please see the Mailing List page for more information, including what is included in the Mailing List and how to sign up.

Q: Can I replicate or copy some of the content onto my site?

A: No, all the content and reviews are my property and cannot be copied without my expressed permission.

Q: Can I put a link to SandwichGuide.co.uk on my website?

A: Certainly, spread the word. Should anyone desire a "button," rather than just a plain link, feel free to use the graphic below which is an ideal size for links pages.
