Chicken & Bacon

Review posted: 31/12/2005It seems you can have too much bacon. This is a sandwich which could have been so much better if more care was taken when choosing the quantity, and quality of the filling.
The bacon in this sandwich actually tastes okay. It is a bit dry an artificially smoked, but the taste isn't too bad. What causes problems is the sheer amount of it, and more importantly, the way it's put into the sandwich. There must be at least 5 rashers, which seems generous, but as they are literally piled right into the middle of the sandwich, it is so overpowering and unpleasant that the taste is ruined.
The chicken is quite the opposite, there isn't enough of it, and it's spread too liberally throughout the sandwich which means it's taste is almost unnoticeable. When you do taste it, it's quite pleasant, but that is somewhat of a rare event.
The whole thing was somewhat dry as well, and although the malted bread was fine, it wasn't particularly filling and suffered from the relatively small amount of mayonnaise present. There was a seemingly pointless offering of limp and soggy lettuce in this sandwich as well; it really contributes nothing at all.
So some serious flaws hamper this sandwich. A bit less bacon, and more chicken and mayonnaise, with a more definite salad would have made a decent sandwich, but this offering is way off the mark to be classified as one.
