Roast Chicken Tesco -- £1.60
Review posted: 10/01/2006Pleasing, but no more. There is very little negative about this sandwich. It's one of those products which doesn't deserve any real criticism, but there's very little about it which causes any deal of excitement either.
The pieces of chicken are a good size, and the flavour is also fairly pleasant too. It's the same chicken found in the "Chicken Salad", but here because there aren't any other real fillings, the portion is a little bigger and that is certainly welcome. The chicken is quite tender and moist and while the flavour isn't vastly strong, it comes through well enough.
To complement the chicken this sandwich has a mayonnaise, with the additions of pepper and lemon juice. Both work as well as can be expected, particularly the pepper. The lemon juice isn't quite strong enough - something which the Foo Go "Chicken Salad" gets just right.
The malted brown is okay, it still has that slightly bitter tinge but it's not too noticeable.
This sandwich is very similar to the Ginsters offering. It's difficult to recommend one above the other because they both have different strengths. However, in terms of taste, this just as pleasant as the Tesco "Chicken Salad", and it offers a slight twist on the flavours too.
