Spicy Italian
Subway -- £2.60

Good, but not great.

This is like many other Subway sandwiches insofar as a bit more generosity with the fillings would have gone a long way. It's quite frustrating because the main fillings are very tasty indeed, but this sandwich needs more of them to be a total success.

The combination of pepperoni and salami that this sandwich possesses is quite delightful. Add this to the usual melted cheese and the flavours that come through are very tasty indeed, albeit not at all spicy. But where this sandwich lets itself down is that there just isn't enough of these fillings. Once the sandwich is folded and stuffed with salad, these main fillings are rather forced onto one side, which means there just isn't enough to go around.

There are certain things you can do to help matters - get it with one of the herbed breads that Subway do. Also, have it toasted as this helps release the flavours a bit more. But even these things can't entirely make up for the disappointing servings of salami and pepperoni. Even the salad rather gets in the way, and despite the fact that Subway salad is always pretty good, too much of it further undermines the flavour here.

A simple tweet with the portion sizes will solve all the problems with this sandwich. For its tasty and moreish flavour it gets 3 stars, but it cannot be denied that the servings are disappointing and that this sandwich needs a bit more work.
