Red Cheddar & Tomato
Tesco -- £1.10

Harmless, but pointless.

While this isn't an unpleasant sandwich as such, there is also no doubt that there's no real point to it. It's one of those sandwiches that would be easier and cheaper for you to make at home.

Overall, this sandwich just doesn't have very much flavour. The cheddar itself has a disappointingly mild, although attractively creamy, taste. The serving size isn't bad either, although the usual problem of 'clumping' occurs since the cheese is grated. The tomato slices are reasonably fresh and there is a suitable number of them. Naturally the two fillings' flavours fuse well enough, but it's a shame that this sandwich hasn't been properly seasoned. A bit of salt and pepper can do wonders with these fillings.

There's also mayonnaise in this sandwich, and the problem with this is that it works against the flavour of the cheddar. Thankfully the portion is relatively small, but since the cheese had a rather slight flavour to begin with, the mayonnaise only makes matters worse. And everything is contained in rather uninspiring white bread.

It's not that this is a bad sandwich; it's an average one to be sure, but I've had worse. However, it's difficult to get excited about since it doesn't offer anything new or even a step up in quality from the norm.
