Egg Mayo
Pret a Manger -- £1.15

Shows quality really does matter.

Overall, this is a very good sandwich with only a few minor flaws, and considering it's from Pret it is also pretty good value too.

The egg mayonnaise is the same that featured in the "All Day Breakfast" but it's characteristics are far more welcome here. Unlike in the aforementioned sandwich, the portion of it is perfect so it doesn't overwhelm. Although it's still a little watery, because there are not other fillings for it to make soggy, this effect is also neutralised. Flavour wise, it's still very rich and creamy and the pieces of egg in the mayonnaise are of a good size.

There is also a good helping of cress, and unlike in the "All Day Breakfast" it's a portion of it which adds flavour with every mouthful. The peppered taste of the cress goes very well with the egg, which has a slightly salty flavour, and the combination is very pleasing indeed.

The always excellent granary bread works just as well here, although it does perhaps suffer a little from the moisture in the egg mayonnaise, but thankfully the effect is not drastic.

Alongside the pleasing flavour of this sandwich, the price is also pretty good. It's 5p more than the dismal Boots and Tastte! offerings, and considering the quality of the ingredients this really is a very attractive purchase. Also, it's refreshing to see a Pret sandwich which competes with the competition on price, rather than just flavour and taste.
