Pret a Manger -- £2.70
Review posted: 09/01/2006One of the greatest sandwiches of all time! This is the biggest selling sandwich in the history of Pret A Manger, and the reason is quite simple; this is a fantastic sandwich. Quality ingredients, all with strong flavours complement each other superbly and the result is excellent.
First of all, there is a generous amount of chicken in this sandwich, and it's in nice big chunks as well as being very tasty. There is plenty of bacon, usually around 3 rashers which is the perfect amount for a sandwich of this size. As with bacon in most sandwiches it is not as full in flavour as one would like, but it goes very well with the other fillings. The tomato and lettuce are fresh and moist and in perfect proportion to the rest of the filling; too much lettuce can really spoil a sandwich. The bread is the high quality granary that Pret use in a lot of their sandwiches, and it works very nicely here.
However, the real star of this sandwich the Pret mayonnaise. Possessing the full flavours of both a good quality mayonnaise and a tasty Dijon mustard, this is a perfect addition to the other fillings and the combination of flavours is simply fantastic.
I cannot recommend this sandwich highly enough. It is perhaps the most well rounded club sandwich on the market, and with so much competition that is a daring claim. This is a great sandwich and one I am sure most people will enjoy.
